Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts optional
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375F 190C
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well blended
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt
Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture and mix until just blended
Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts if using
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown
The centers will be soft
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely
